Shae Heitz

Shae Heitz is a visiting postgraduate student from the University of Connecticut School of Law where she is pursuing a J.D. At UConn, Shae is involved with the Asylum and Human Rights Clinic, Human Rights Law Association, and the UConn Chapter of the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP). Her interests include law and policy, conflict resolution, climate change, and migration and forced displacement. Her interests have led her to work with refugees from Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Cameroon, and Nigeria. Currently, her work examines the intersection between forced migration and climate change. Additionally, as a human rights research assistant, Shae has experience in hate crime prevention measures and hate speech regulation and moderation on social media platforms.
