Co-designing an evidence-based approach to the revision of the Slavery and Trafficking Care Standards

carestandards

Rights Lab project lead: Nicola Wright
Funder: QR-PSF
Duration: April 2023 - December 2023
Programme: Health and Wellbeing

The Slavery and Trafficking Survivor Care Standards (Human Trafficking Foundation, 2015/2018) offer the most detailed description of what support services should be providing to promote survivor wellbeing in the UK.  Originally co-developed by an expert working group, they have been formally adopted by the Government.  Since 2018 the evidence-base for survivor health and wellbeing has grown exponentially.  The policy and practice landscape has also evolved.  This means there is a need to review the literature to identify (1) which parts of the Care Standards are evidence-based; (2) where evidence exists but is not currently incorporated into the Care Standards; and (3) which standards remain unsupported by evidence.  To address these issues, we will (1) conduct a synthesis of the academic, policy and practice literature; and (2) codesign with our project partner, the Human Trafficking Foundation the next steps of a consultation and produce recommendations for embedding evidence-based practice within this.
