Valstar is an expert the fields of computer vision and pattern recognition, where his main interest and world-leading work is in automatic recognition of human behaviour, specialising in the analysis of facial expressions. In the Smart Products Beacon he leads the work on interactive AI systems, endowing robots and AI agents to sense humans and their behaviour in order to plan their own actions appropriately.
