Research into coatings manufacturing technologies for power generation includes:
  • Feedstock development through mechanical milling or gas atomisation
  • Suspension and solution precursor spraying through High Velocity Oxy-Fuel spraying (HVOF) and Atmospheric Plasma Spraying (APS)
  • High pressure Cold Gas Dynamic Spraying (CGDS) oxidation resistant coatings and low Pressure Cold Spraying for repair applications (LPCS)
  • Laser cladding for high temperature components

Materials for extreme environment include:

  • High temperature oxidation and deposit induced corrosion mechanisms
  • High temperature oxidation in steam
  • Erosion-corrosion behaviour of materials in mixed combustion gases
