Computer Vision Laboratory

cvl header

CVL is a research group based in Computer Science at the University of Nottingham. We research and develop novel and applied methods in computer vision.  Our group of academics, researchers and PhD students together make theoretical and practical advances to core computer vision AI technologies such as Convolutional Neural Networks and Transformers. We explore Generative AI approaches in both vision and language, and develop new ways of using and expanding datasets to improve machine learning performance.

As a group we help collect and annotate novel datasets in a diverse range of domains, and implement novel technologies to help with this, such as eye tracking and attention mechanisms.

Members of the lab work in a variety of highly interdisciplinary projects, including topics like biological and medical imaging, understanding plant and crop growth, using AI for mental health, and driving more computationally efficient and ethical approaches to computer vision.
