The Fluids and Thermal Engineering Research Group warmly invites you
to attend their Virtual Wednesday Seminar on 19th May at 14.00pm
“Engineering applications of porous structures from micro to macro-scales”
Guest Speaker: Beatrice Pulvirenti
Abstract:
In this talk, different engineering applications of porous structures will be explored, with a focus on some numerical approaches for the simulation of the energy and mass exchange through the pores. These applications are studied by the thermal and fluid-dynamics (TFD) research group at Bologna University, Department of Industrial Engineering. First, the heat transfer characteristics of metal foams and their applications in the field of automotive will be investigated. Increasing the scales, some applications of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) will be shown, as they can be considered as non-conventional structures for the mitigation of the pollution within the cities or the mitigation of extreme events under a climate change contest.
