To develop and test the feasibility of delivering a Children's Centre based parenting programme to prevent recurrent unintentional home injuries in children aged 0-4 years, compared to normal care for such children.
A multi-centre study using a cluster randomised controlled design tested the feasibility of delivering a parenting programme developed to prevent recurrent injuries occurring in the home for preschool children. The study is based in Bristol and Nottingham. Parenting programme delivered to parents in two Children's Centres in both Bristol and Nottingham. Parents attending two further Children's Centres in both study sites acted as controls.
Aimed to recruit 48 families (12 in each of two control/intervention sites in both Bristol and Nottingham). Deliver an eight week "First aid advice and safety training" parenting programme and then follow up for six months collecting injury diary data plus completion of questionnaires on child's behaviour.
Findings have been written into a report which has been sent to the HTA for comments.
