Biography

Clinical Associate Professor in Stroke Medicine & Honorary Consultant Stroke Neurologist (Royal Derby Hospital)

I completed medical school at the University of Birmingham with subject honours in Therapeutics (2004-2009), trained across the West Midlands in Neurology (CCT 2020) and completed my PhD in Stroke Medicine with the Stroke Trials Unit, University of Nottingham (2019).

I worked as a Consultant Stroke Neurologist in Birmingham and Nottingham before taking up my clinical academic role with the University of Nottingham (2026).

Expertise Summary

My research interests encompass:

-hyperacute stroke including reperfusion therapies and optimising patients during this critical period;

-cerebral small vessel disease (SVD): a common, potentially devastating disease with no specific treatments;

-frailty and its impact on people with stroke.
