Taiwan Research Hub (TRH) of the University of Nottingham is pleased to announce the first round of Early Career Researchers workshop on Taiwan Studies, which will be held on 4 June 2025.
This in-person workshop (hybrid participation will be considered on request) is an exciting opportunity for master's students, doctoral researchers, and post-docs to discuss and present their research. It will provide a platform for participants to present their work, receive constructive feedback, and engage in critical discussions. The workshop also aims to offer an excellent opportunity for participants to network, exchange and collaborate ideas with their peers. We encourage abstract – but not limited to – in the arts, humanities, and social science and any theme or aspect related to Taiwan.
Selected participants will prepare a 15-minute presentation, followed by five-minute questions/answers from peers and academic advisors. We have also invited three academic advisers: Dr Ming-Yeh Rawnsley (Editor In Chief, International Journal of Taiwan Studies and Non-Resident Fellow of TRH, University of Nottingham), Professor Jeremy Taylor (Professor of Modern History, Resident Senior Fellow of TRH at the University of Nottingham) and ( Dr Chun-Yi Lee (Associate Professor at the School of Politics and International Relations, University of Nottingham & Director of TRH)
The TRH plans to publish the workshop’s proceedings in a special issue entitled “Early Career Scholars Workshop in Taiwan Studies” on Taiwan Insight. Participants are invited to submit a blog post or academic commentary (between 1000 and 1500 words) by 13 June 2025, for the special issue publication. Partial funding is available for presenters joining from outside Nottingham (within the UK).
