New Deputy Directors for University of Nottingham Energy Institute

We are pleased to announce that Professor Antonino La Rocca, and Dr Michelle Stirk have accepted new roles as Deputy Directors of the University of Nottingham Energy Institute. They will join Professor David Grant, Director, and Professor Lucelia Rodrigues, Deputy Director, in contributing to the growth and strategic direction of the institute.
Antonino is a Professor of Applied Thermofluids and Propulsion Systems. He is committed to finding sustainable energy solutions to reduce environmental impact and has extensive experience of engaging with industry and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. Antonino is particularly interested in developing Early Career Researchers across disciplines to maximise the impact of research, and as part of this role he will also join our Transport and Mobility challenge area.
Antonino commented, "I'm excited to take on the role of Deputy Director and contribute to advancing sustainable energy solutions. I look forward to collaborating across disciplines to drive impactful research and support the next generation of researchers”.
Dr Michelle Stirk is particularly interested in sustainability and corporate social responsibility. She brings her experience as Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for the Faculty of Social Science to this newly created role. Michelle will provide strategic oversight to support authentic advocacy and promote the alignment of strategy and research outcomes to social impact.
Michelle commented, “I am delighted to be appointed to this role. I look forward to working with colleagues and the wider community, to support and build positive relationships. I am grateful to all of you for making me feel welcome.”
Speaking about the new appointments, Professor David Grant said, “I am pleased to welcome Antonino and Michelle to the leadership team of the Energy Institute. Lucelia and I are looking forward to working closely with them both, and I am sure their experience will be invaluable as we continue to ensure that our research is aligned to the University’s core strategy and our societal impact goals”.
