Our postgraduate placements are designed to help you recognise the breadth of your potential and highlight future opportunities.

About our placements

Each placement involves a discrete project at an external organisation for which the postgraduate researcher acts as a specialist consultant. The placements are delivered in partnership with a wide range of employers from small local businesses to multinational organisations. 

We generally offer two types of placement:

  • part-time projects, up to 200 hours, for a period of 3-6 months.

  • full-time 3 month internships.

  • Innovation and Funding Specialist

    Location: Nottingham Ingenuity Centre United Kingdom
    In this placement you will collaborate with dynamic businesses on diverse projects, gaining hands-on experience in innovation, grant bid writing, and technology assessment. This project would suit a postgraduate with a passion for R&D and a business background.
  • Researcher/Developer in AI Driven Multispectral Imagery
    Application closing date: 11 Mar 2024
    Location: Remote/Occasional meetings Nottingahm UP Campus United Kingdom
    For this project you will support a dynamic climate change start-up that integrates cutting-edge soil sampling, AI technology, and satellite imagery to provide real-world solutions. You will contribute to creating multispectral imagery, mitigating cloud cover in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery and advancing environmental impact assessment.   • Thought Leadership Business Strategist

    Location: Remote/Occasionally Grantham United Kingdom
    This project will involve creating a comprehensive report that educates, identifies potential pitfalls, and offers recommendations on whether this engineering organisation should formalise a thought leadership business strategy. The report will outline practical solutions for implementing the strategy, guiding them towards shaping its strategic direction and positioning itself as an industry leader and innovator.
