 Further information

Primary MFL Storytime

Students studying a range of languages and/or with a native language deliver three Storytime sessions, using an increasing number of new words from the language throughout the sessions. The aim is to celebrate the diversity of our culture and encourage Key Stage 1 pupils to aspire to language learning in the future.

For more information, please contact marilena.minoia@nottingham.ac.uk.

Teaching English as an Additional Language in Primary Schools

Students can be deployed once a week for half a term to support individual EAL pupils or small groups of pupils to enable easier assimilation into school life and learning. Pupils can be of any age.

For more information, please contact lucy.sawyer-darocha@nottingham.ac.uk.

Arts in Society

We are seeking schools to work with groups (4-5) of Masters level students, who will be addressing a challenge, deficit or need in the Arts and Humanities curriculum. The students will work on the problem, develop resources, and submit these to the teacher for their (general) feedback.

The project will start with a consultative conversation at the end of February 2024 and the students will aim to produce their solution by the first week in May 2024. There is no need to accommodate the students in the school for any length of time and all consultation can occur online, if preferred.

To express your interest or for more information, please contact Hayley.revill@nottingham.ac.uk.

Teaching Placement for Film and Media Students

Students of Film and Media who are interested in teaching and may be considering this as a career path need to complete 6 lessons in a local school as part of their academic module. They can teach small groups, whole classes, or a bespoke project for a designated group in discussion with you, KS1 or KS2. This project will take place in the autumn term 2023.

Students will need to visit your school for 6 teaching half days and 1 observation visit in November. All students undertake an enhanced DBS check ahead of starting their placement.

If you can offer a placement or have any questions, please contact tara.webster-deakin@nottingham.ac.uk.

Literacy Support Programme

This programme places students from the School of English in primary or secondary schools, to help support the pupils in developing their literacy skills. It is really popular for students considering teaching careers, and has received positive responses from schools who have noted how impactful our students' presence in the classrooms have been.

You can find out more information about the programme via the website, or email Hayley.Revill@nottingham.ac.uk as the team are looking for more schools for the 2023-2024 academic year.
