You will also find information about the induction activities that will be taking place at the start of the new academic year, as well as links to our School of Mathematical Sciences Moodle community page. Moodle is our online learning environment that contains useful information related to your course and your student experience.

Preparing to start

Please make sure you do the following before Welcome Week: 

  • Activate your university username and email address as soon as possible
    • An email will be sent to your personal email address approximately three weeks before your official start date.  Your student ID number can be found on your NottinghamHub applicant portal. You will not be able to activate your university username until you have received this email. You can find more information on our FAQ page.  
  • Set up your Multi-Factor Authentication here
  • Familiarise yourself with the School of Mathematical Sciences Welcome Week Moodle page:
  • We strongly recommend that you download Microsoft Office (for free) to set up your IT account.

  • Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

  • First year students – review and engage with our preparatory resources In particular, we request that you install Anaconda Navigator on your personal device by following the first page of the Python Bootcamp document found via the above link.
  • Postgraduate students – review and engage with our dedicated preparatory resources.

Check your emails regularly

Once you have activated your university email address, make sure you check this email address regularly as this is our primary way of communicating with you. Keep a look out for informative pre-course information emails.
