Undergraduate induction timetable for the Department of Music
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our department and have created an informative induction programme to help ease you into university life.
Our sessions will introduce you to:
- the structure of your course
- our academic staff
- all the resources and support available to you at the University of Nottingham
We strongly encourage you to attend these sessions, as they are a vital part of your orientation. Attending these sessions will help prepare you for your time at Nottingham.
Save this page to your favourites, and check back regularly as timetables can change

Unsure about your timetable?
If you are missing any information, or have any questions about your timetable email us.
Session locations
The building number is included for in-person sessions. This is to help you find the location on the University Park campus map. You can also look for the locations on the University of Nottingham AccessAble guide to find accessibility information.
Some sessions will take place online. Find a study space to use if you need a quiet place to join.
There are currently lift works taking place in the Music building, which means that some students may not be able to access the rooms upstairs. We have ensured that all main events this week are taking place on the ground floor. If you have any concerns or queries, please email the Humanities Education and Student Experience (ESE) Team.
Participation levels
Each event lists the level of interaction. This includes:
- No interaction: an information session with no questions asked of the audience. You will not be asked to speak in front of the audience.
- Some voluntary interaction: an information session with very limited (voluntary) participation. The speaker may ask questions or invite you to ask questions on a voluntary basis. You will not be asked to speak in front of the audience.
- Active voluntary interaction: an interactive session, where the speaker may ask questions but will ask for voluntary answers. You may be asked to contribute.
- Social interaction: A social/informal event aimed to help you get to know your peers and/or different services/groups from around the university.

Let’s be clear on consent
|
Developed in collaboration with current students, consent training will be offered to all first-year students at the beginning of the 2023 academic year. The workshop is an interactive face-to-face session to explore; Why is consent important? What is it? What does it look like? And how can we contribute to a positive and safe university community?
Please be aware that in the workshop we will be discussing sensitive issues relating to consent and sexual violence. This will connect to the lived experience of some students who are joining the university. Please feel supported to choose not to attend the workshop if this is not right/appropriate for you. Please be aware that you can access support if you are affected by these issues from your Support and Wellbeing Team or by contacting us via Report and Support.
