Overview

This will be a practical based cadaver course on ear surgery of cats and dogs aimed at intermediate to advanced surgeons who would like to improve their skills in ear surgery. The day will be split into a didactic morning to cover the theory, followed by cadaver practical tuition.

Topics to be covered 

  • Surgery of the pinna
  • Indications and practical approach for lateral wall resection and total ear canal ablation
  • Management of feline aural polyps

 

 

Learning objectives

  • Understanding the anatomy and clinical indications for treatment of neoplastic and inflammatory ear conditions in dogs
  • Gaining a good level of proficiency in performing ear surgery and having knowledge and understanding of complications of these procedures
  • Conservative and surgical management of feline aural polyps – how to make decisions regarding nasopharyngeal and middle ear polyps in cats
 

Required delegate attributes

Delegates should have basic surgical knowledge and good soft tissue handling skills to enroll on this course. Although previous experience in ear surgery is not necessary, having some background knowledge on the aetiologias and indications of surgeries taught would be helpful. This course would suit surgeons of intermediate to advanced levels.
