Overview

This course aims to provide small animal, first opinion clinicians with a logical approach to the most commonly encountered cardiac presentations.This will include three lectures, a workshop on ECG interpretation and clinical scenarios for delegates to implement the information from the day.

Topics to be covered

  • Acquired Canine Murmurs – approach to mitral valve disease and DCM
  • Arrhythmia workshop
  • Approach to feline heart disease
  • Management of Congestive Heart Failure/Clinical Scenarios (practice cases)

    Learning objectives

    • Be able to provide a diagnostic and treatment plan for dogs presenting with acquired murmurs
    • Feel confident in identifying the need to perform an ECG and interpreting findings
    • Be able to advise owners on the significance of a feline murmur and produce an appropriate diagnostic/treatment plan
    • Be able to identify and manage acute and chronic congestive heart failure in dogs and cats

     

     

    Required delegate attributes

    First opinion small animal clinicians who want to increase their confidence with common cardiac presentations. The course is not aimed at cardiac certificate holders.
