Overview

This practical day with provide vets with a focused, hands-on approach to the diagnosis and surgical management of salivary mucoceles Through some lectures, case discussions and cadaver-based surgery, participants will gain confidence in recognizing clinical presentations, selecting appropriate diagnostic techniques and performing salivary gland excision. Emphasis will be placed on practical tips, avoiding common pitfalls and ensuring good outcomes.

Topics to be covered

    1. Anatomy and pathophysiology of salivary mucoceles
    2. Covering mandibular, parotid, zygomatic, pharyngeal
    3. A surgical approach to mandibular mucoceles

Learning objectives

  1. Understanding the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of salivary mucoceles
  2. Appreciate the anatomy of mandibular, parotid, zygomatic mucoceles
  3. An in-depth dive into the surgical approach and management of mandibular mucoceles
 

Required delegate attributes

This course is aimed at confident intermediate and advanced level surgeons who have encountered salivary mucoceles but have not yet had the confidence to tackle them. We will cover aspects of all types but focus on the most common (> 90% cases) mandibular mucoceles from initial diagnosis to final management postoperatively.
