School of Pharmacy - Tissue Engineering Group
Andrew Olaye

Andrew Olaye

Andrew obtained an MPharm in Pharmacy, from the reputable London School of Pharmacy in 2004. After which, he undertook his pre-registration training at the Solid Dosage Formulations Group within Pfizer Ltd Sandwich Kent. His PhD research is a BBSRC – RegenTec funded project involving the design of injectable scaffolds for the treatment of osteochondral defects.

David Gothard

David Gothard

David obtained an MBiolSci in Biochemistry and Genetics, at the University of Sheffield in 2005. During which he carried out several research projects looking at (1) the signalling involved in early neurotube development and (2) the transduction pathway involved in the allergic response using a basophilic leukaemic cell line of mast cells.

His PhD research involves investigating the effects of ‘forced aggregation’ on the 3D growth of embryonic stem cell aggregates into embryoid bodies and their subsequent directed differentiation.

Nan Wang

Nan Wang

Nan graduated in 2004 with an MSc from the Advanced Drug Delivery Group at the University Of Nottingham, School Of Pharmacy. Following this, Nan joined the Tissue Engineering group in September 2004, under the joint supervision of Dr. Gary Adams (School of Nursing), Dr. Lee Buttery and Dr. Snow Stolnik. Nan’s PhD project involves investigating the in vitro differentiation of embryonic stem cells into pancreatic insulin producing cells.

Jessica Gao

Jessica Gao

Jessica graduated from Birmingham University in 2005 with a BSc. (Hons) in Biological Sciences. She then joined the Tissue Engineering group in September 2005 under the supervision of Dr Felicity Rose and Dr Martin Bushell (RNA Biology group).

Ian Cannell

Ian Cannell

Ian graduated from Lancaster University in 2005 with a BSc in Biological Sciences. Ian started his PhD working jointly in the RNA Biology and the Tissue Engineering groups in October 2005. His research currently focuses on investigating the osteogenic differentiation of embryonic stem cells, with special emphasis on the changes in gene expression.
