China Campus

Administration building at The University of Nottingham Ningbo, China

The University's strong links with China resulted in an invitation to become the first foreign university to establish an independent campus, under new legislation passed in China in 2003.

The campus is located in Ningbo, a historic city on China's eastern coast close to Shanghai, and has been developed in partnership with the dynamic and innovative Wanli Education Group.

Ningbo Campus

The 140 acre Ningbo campus was opened to students in 2005  and was officially opened by John Prescott, the UK's Deputy Prime Minister, in February 2006.  Like the Malaysia Campus, Ningbo Campus builds on the attributes of University Park in the UK and includes a lake and its own version of Nottingham's famous Trent Building.

The campus provides purpose-built facilities for 4,000 students, including:

  • on-site residential facilities for all students and staff
  • restaurants and shops
  • a dedicated sports complex
  • state-of-the-art teaching, research and student services buildings

The new campus is situated on the Ningbo Higher Education Park, which also has excellent complementary facilities, including a new Municipal Library and Sports Stadium.

Studying at Ningbo

The campus is a full and integral part of The University of Nottingham.  All teaching is carried out in English and the degrees awarded are University of Nottingham degrees.  A range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and opportunities are available for students wishing to study in China.

Queen’s Award for Enterprise and Industry

The University is delighted to have been awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise 2001 and the Queen's Award for Industry (International Trade) in 2006 in recognition of its innovation in establishing campuses overseas.
