I am a historical geographer whose work explores the geographies of science, technology and engineering in nineteenth century Britain, particularly in Scotland. I am concerned with issues of practice, knowledge and expertise - what engineers did, why they did it and how it was perceived - and with the relationship between engineering, landscape and power.
