Bespoke training courses

The International Office can create bespoke training courses for groups of visitors, tailoring them to the requirements of each group.

We are able to offer courses of varying lengths, from a one day course to a two week programme, depending on requirements.

Training Programme for China University of Mining and Technology-November 2014

This two week programme was organised directly with the China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) and was for 15 senior staff members from a variety of academic and administrative departments. The aim of the training course was to improve participants' knowledge of management in areas of administration and governance within a UK university and relationship building. The sessions at The University of Nottingham covered the following topics:

  • University partnerships and overseas campuses

University partnerships and business engagement were focussed towards the Asia region. The programme also incorporated cultural excursions and events including a welcome and farewell dinner with the University's International Office staff, a tour of Nottingham city centre and weekend trips to Oxford and Cambridge, which included tours of their universities and colleges.

 
 
Leadership Programmes for the British Council Pakistan-March 2014

These two, one week training programmes were organised through the British Council Pakistan, one programme was for 24 senior officials from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the other programme was for 21 senior administative staff from universities from the Pakistani Higher Education sector. The aims of the programmes were to improve the participants' strategic planning and leadership and provide an orientation into working within UK universities. The sessions at The University of Nottingham covered the following topics:

  • Teaching and learning
  • Strategic thinking and planning for effective management
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Product development
  • Financial management at HEIs
  • Recruitment, selection and Human Resource policy

Training Course for Chinese Presidents-December 2013

This six day course was commissioned by Sunland International and was for a group of 27 senior staff from Chinese universities. The purpose of their visit was training focussing on the international aspects of of the University strategy. The following topics were covered:

  • UK Higher Education and the University's internationalisation strategy
  • Management and governance
  • Quality Assurance of research and the Graduate School
  • Campaigns and Alumni Relations
  • Teaching and Learning
  • Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
  • External engagement
  • Joint Sino-UK research centres
  • Tour of Sino-UK Geospatial Engineering Centre
  • Tour of Creative Energy Homes
  • Visit to Sir Peter Mansfield Magnetic Resonance Centre
External engagement and the University's partnerships were focussed towards the Asia region. The programme also incorporate cultural excursions and events such as a welcome dinner with The University of Nottingham's International Office staff and a student concert.
