Financial Support

The University offers staff and students sources of financial support towards meeting the costs of childcare:

Nursery Tax Scheme/ Edenred Voucher Scheme 

  • These are available to staff members of the University.
  • The nursery tax scheme represents savings of approximately 23% on the cost of your childcare if you use the University of Nottingham Childcare services provision or TLC nursery on University Park Campus.

Strict terms and conditions apply.

  • As an alternative, you maybe eligible to request non-taxable and exempt from National Insurance contributions, childcare vouchers up to the value of £55 per week (£243 per month)

Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit

  • This is offered by HM Revenue and Customs.
  • The Child Tax Credit is support for families responsible for at least one child under 16. (Applicable for both students and staff) 
  • The Working Tax Credit contains an element to help with the cost of your childcare. You can apply online by going to the HM Revenue and Customs  website.

DCSF Childcare Grant

This is offered to eligible home students and may cover up to 85% of the cost of your childcare.

Childcare Services Subsidy *

  • Childcare services offers a number of subsidised places for full – time registered students (home and international)
  • This is a ‘means tested’ subsidy.  The University of Nottingham Childcare Services
     
    *Applies only to the University of Nottingham Day nursery and Playcentre
