Biography

I studied English and Italian with a Teaching a and later did a Postgraduate Certificate for teaching German and Project Development at the same university.

Before joining the University of Nottingham, I worked in the German Department of the University of Sheffield for one year as an Austrian lector, and previous to that, I was an Austrian lector for two years at the German Department of the University of St Andrews. In this role, I was coordinating and teaching German language modules.

I am the co-lead of the Language Teachers Reading Network (LanTeRN) at the department of Modern Languages, Cultures and Area Studies.

Current Research

My research interests lie in the methodology and pedagogy of foreign language learning and teaching, global and intercultural learning and foreign language teaching policy. My diploma dissertation was completed in Vienna under the title "Global and Intercultural Learning (GIL) in the EFL classroom". I am interested in global and intercultural learning in the language classroom, student engagement and motivation and on how to foster collaboration among students and among language educators.

I am co-organiser of the workshop series "Back to basics" and co-founder of the Special Interest Group (SIG) "Gender-fair language" as part of the AULC.
