Portland landscaping works are due to commence on Monday 27 March. The whole of Portland Hill (the grassy area facing the big screen at the back of the Portland Building) will be closed from this date as site fencing is erected and the works begin taking place.

This marks the beginning of phase three of the Portland Building redevelopment. Portland Hill will be closed from Monday 27 March until the start of the 2017/2018 academic year while the works take place.

The Portland Building, Portland Hill road and Cherry Tree Hill will not be affected by the works and will remain open. Staff and students will still be able to access the Portland Building through the entrance beneath the big screen.

Supported by funds from The University of Nottingham’s Impact Campaign, the landscaping works include the introduction of a new hardstanding pavilion by the bus stop with tiered stairs leading down to the Portland Building that will act as amphitheatre-style seating. There will also be cascading water features and the area will be used as a screening venue for events such as outdoor cinema night, big sports events or graduation.
