School of Economics

Martynas Isciukas

Subject: BSc Economics

Graduated: 2017

How did you first become interested in economics?

I have been interested in economics since I was 12 years old, when me and my brother started our extracurricular EU-wide scooter trading business. I was keen on understanding why prices fluctuate or what drives changes in supply and demand. This was my first hand-on experience with economics.

Why did you choose to study at the School of Economics at Nottingham?

I have always been pursuing for high-end education, as I have understood the value it creates. University of Nottingham was my top choice due to the head start it provides when competing on the job market against other graduates.

Also, I am thankful to my brother, an alumnus of the University of Nottingham, for the encouragement to strive to become a student at the University of Nottingham.

What are your fondest memories of your time at the school?

The people. I was lucky enough to have very strong and helpful lecturers as well as friendly students, with whom after a long day studying I could go for a pint of beer or to do sports.

Tell us about your career path since graduation.

Since I graduated, I did a summer internship in the area of investment banking and afterwards I have moved to work in an asset management firm. I am currently working on a private equity fund project.

Have you been back to the school since you graduated?

I have not been back to Nottingham since I graduated, because I am working abroad. :)
