Environmental Fluid Mechanics

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been used extensively to model the flows within open channels, over weirs and spillways and around bridge piers. Specific areas of research are shear stress distibutions on channel walls and the determination of conveyance parameters using Large Eddy Simulations. Contributions have been made to the Flood Risk Management Research Consortium (FRMRC) in these and other areas.
