Fully-funded PhD Studentship in Geography

The School of Geography at The University of Nottingham invites applications from suitably qualified students for a PhD studentship to cover maintenance and fees for full-time study for three years beginning in Autumn 2017.

The studentship will fund PhD research into any field of geography. The School of Geography four research themes:

  • Geosciences
  • Environment and Society
  • Economic Worlds
  • Cultural and Historical Geography

Projects with any of these themes, or that cut across multiple themes are welcome. The school is committed to high-quality research and knowledge transfer and we have a strong culture of interdisciplinary and collaborative research, with a supportive postgraduate research culture and training programme.

Interested candidates should contact potential supervisors to discuss project ideas prior to applying.

The successful applicant will be entitled to a full-time yearly stipend comparable to RCUK rates (circa £14,296 for 2016/17) plus Home/EU tuition fees (ca. £4,183 for 2017/2018). Note these rates are updated each year and thus are subject to change. International tuition fees are substantially more and the school studentship does not provide additional funding to cover these.
