Syria and Refugees = Threat to UK? Panel discussion led by NILSC and HRLC

Date(s)
Thursday 26th November 2015 (16:00-18:00)
Description

The Nottingham International Law and Security Centre and the Human Rights Law Centre invite you to a panel-led discussion:

Syria + Refugees = Threat to UK?

Following the recent attacks in Paris for which ISIS claims responsibility, refugees are in the frame. With almost 60 million people displaced worldwide and thousands of people reportedly at the port of Calais trying to enter the UK, what is the best response? Do refugees pose a threat to the UK? Would our way of life be altered forever if we allowed refugees to enter? Would we be at risk of a similar attack to Paris? Is 20,000 (as outlined by David Cameron) a reasonable number? Should it be more? Or fewer?

Join Natalie Bennett (Green Party leader), Dr Aidan Hehir (University of Westminster) and Dr Daria Davitti (Keele University) to discuss these and other related questions.

Chaired by Professor Mary Footer (Co-Director, NILSC)
