Online Registration Available for 17th Annual Student Human Rights Conference - UN Human Rights Council: Ten Years On

We are pleased to announce that online registration for the 17th Annual Student Human Rights Conference - UN Human Rights Council:  Ten Years On is now available.

The Conference will take place on Saturday 5 March 2016 and will be held in the Law and Social Sciences Building at the University of Nottingham.

This year's conference focuses on a diverse range of pressing issues in current UN Human Rights Council discourse, such as the differing number of resolutions aimed at developing nations rather than developed nations, whether the strong rhetoric of the UN Human Rights Council is matched by action and whether the Council really has changed since its inception following the end of the UN Human Rights Commission.

The keynote speakers are:

  • Mr Karim Ghezraoui, Chief Officer at the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights;
  • Dr Rosa Freedman, Senior Lecturer at Birmingham Law School, University of Birmingham;
  • Ms Aoife Hegarty, Programme Manager of the Secretariat, Universal Periodic Review Info, United Nations Human Rights Council;
  • Ms Lucy Richardson, PhD Candidate at the Graduate Institute, Geneva and previously member of the New Zealand Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

The Conference offers a range of different ticket packages for attendance and early bird discounts are available until 29 February.  Final registration for attendance is Friday 4 March.

Please follow this link to order your tickets.

We would like to remind postgraduate students that the deadline for Call for Papers is today.  Please email us your completed abstract application form if you would like to be considered for presenting a paper on the above themes in one of our student panels.  Application forms can be found on our Conference webpage.
