IAPS sponsorship for Dr Carole Spary

The Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies has awarded funding to Dr Carole Spary, Co-Deputy Director of IAPS, for her upcoming trip to Bangladesh.

Carole will be visiting Bangladesh for a conference on 'Inclusive Governance in South Asia' on 8-9 May. She has been invited to present her research on women MPs in the Indian parliament. The conference is taking place in Dhaka and is being organised jointly by Professor Nizam U Ahmed, Chief Co-ordinator of the Public Administration and Governance Research Network and Professor at the Department of Public Administration of the University of Chittagong.

Themes of the conference will explore, in the context of South Asia, elections, parliaments, the civil service, the judiciary, women's presence and participation in these institutions, social accountability, public service delivery, and inclusive governance in comparative perspective with South East Asia and East Asia. Participants will be attending from across South Asia as well as the UK and Canada.
