IAPS Dialogue paid internship

Salary: £10.05 per hour (plus holiday pay)
Location: Residence in Nottingham is not required

About

The Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies is seeking applications for a paid internship to work with the Editor of the Institute of Asia and Pacific Studies' online magazine – IAPSDialogue.orgProfessor Katharine Adeney. In the first instance the position will be for six months and will be renewable by mutual consent.

The intern will work closely with Professor Adeney on administrative and other matters relating to the magazine and associated social media. Tasks will include identifying topics to cover on the magazine, liaising with scholars and practitioners working on Asia to write articles on these topics, particularly covering the countries in South and South East Asia, editing the articles and promoting the articles on social media.

The internship will be managed by Professor Adeney, who will provide training and supervision throughout. The internship will provide experience of working in an academic environment, external engagement and academic network building. The position will be most suitable for a PhD student working on South and South East Asia. The successful applicant will have specialist knowledge about the contemporary affairs of at least one South or South East Asian country.

Person specification

  • Graduate degree (in hand or in prospect) in Asian studies
  • An academic training in the contemporary affairs of least one country in South or South East Asia
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Excellent editorial and proofreading skills
  • A professional and responsible attitude
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently (after receiving guidance)
  • Experience of using WordPress, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram an advantage
