Description

On Wednesday 20th July, ICEMiC is held a participatory discussion session around issues thrown up by Brexit.

Themes that were discussed included questions of identity and of citizenship/inclusion/equality. The session intended to bring together people from different academic backgrounds, not simply those with a pre-existing interest in these themes. The session encouraged participants to engage in reflective and exploratory discussions of the current politico-socio-cultural climate, including themes such as the politics of fear, politics of loss, politics of hope, welcoming the other, the significance of claims of lies/betrayal/incompetence and the role of the expert.

The event took the form of a World Café and also featured short discussion-piece talks by three Sociologists:

Nick Stevenson

John Holmwood

Elisabetta Zontini
