A new application for an old vaccine

A live vaccine has been available for use against fowl typhoid, a major worldwide poultry infection. Our world-leading research group found that the vaccine also protected domestic chickens against salmonella enteritidis, the pandemic strain of the 1980-90s.

This has been commercialised by a pharmaceutical company and is now used extensively across the globe.
