Eleanor Sergeant, President of the Pro Bono Society, awarded Vice-Chancellor's Medal

Eleanor Sergeant, final year undergraduate law student and President of the Pro Bono Society, has been awarded a Vice-Chancellor's Medal 2017. The Medal is awarded for exceptional achievement by staff or students. Eleanor has been awarded the Medal for her many contributions to the School of Law and to the wider University.

Eleanor is President of the Pro Bono Society, where she has developed the Society greatly and ensured inclusivity for all students. She also played a part in developing the Junior Lawyers Against Poverty project, for which she sits on the National Steering Committee, and has helped set up the project in 12 other universities.

Eleanor is also an active volunteer and has dedicated many hours to the Personal Support Unit and volunteered regularly with the Student Volunteer Centre. She received the 'Going the Extra Mile' award in her role as Outreach and Liaison Officer for the Student Volunteer Leadership Committee. She also served as Co-Head of Street Law for Pro Bono Society and Business Liaison for Voice Your Rights.

She is the School Rep for Law and has also taken on the newly-developed role of Faculty Rep for all Social Sciences.

Eleanor has made a significant contribution to the University in other ways such as the Democratic Procedures Committee, Scrutiny Panel, representing the University at Women's Rugby and generally offering her help to all students wherever she can.

We offer our congratulations to Eleanor on being awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Medal. She will receive her award at a Ceremony on Thursday 6 July 2017.
