Biography

Emilia Oris-Onyiri is a PGR student conducting research on navigating the tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade liberalisation and integration in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Emilia holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (First Class) and a Masters of Laws in Financial and Commercial Law both from the University of Central Lancashire. Emilia is a qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, where she practiced advocacy in the areas of civil, financial and commercial law before commencing her postgraduate research at the University of Nottingham.

Emilia is versed in dispute resolution via mediation and arbitration under the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators where she serves as a Member of the Institute. Emilia is also a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Current Research

As a PGR student, Emilia's current research interests lie in the area of international trade and economic law where she is conducting a research on navigating the tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade liberalisation and integration in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Her research is aimed at identifying and eliminating the trade barriers in ECOWAS, in order to boost the trade and economic integration process of the regional economic community. In her research, Emilia explores the concepts of regional integration and pan-Africanism in promoting integration in West Africa's predominant regional economic body.
