Research Topic

Constitution and Government in Gibraltar

Keith Azopardi is working in the field of constitutional law and its interrelationship with European law in the special case study of Gibraltar. His project studies the concepts of governance and sovereignty and how these have evolved generally within Europe and specifically affected Gibraltar. The work looks at the relationship Britain-Spain-Gibraltar and the impact that this has had on Gibraltar's constitutional development especially within the European context. It looks at the application of the principles of governance and sovereignty to Gibraltar focusing on the period after 1986 to the present-day and examines the key principles that should govern the modern constitutional relationship between the parties.
