Research Summary

My research uses genetic and genomic resources to investigate the colour-pattern polymorphism in Adalia bipunctata and A. decempunctata, the 2- and 10-spot ladybirds.

I have a long-term interest in the phenomenon of male-killing, its causes and evolutionary consequences. I have investigated this in several species of ladybird, both British and Asian, primarily Harmonia axyridis, otherwise known as the Harlequin ladybird.
