Waste Disposal

Other Types of Waste

There are many other types of clinical waste that have not been covered here. Increasingly hospitals are becoming more environmentally aware and aiming to recycle more. Look out for recycling bins in the medical school or in hospitals. They usually have a list of suitable waste directly on the bin. Medicines and tablets are returned to pharmacy where they are disposed of correctly. Bodily fluids in hospitals should be disposed of in the sluice. Cytotoxic waste is also treated differently. If in doubt ask!
