Horizon is a £45 million initiative focusing on digital economy research at the University of Nottingham. The initial funded activities within Horizon include the Research Hub and the Doctoral Training Centre.
The Horizon Digital Economy Research Hub is one of three of its kind from the Research Council UK (RCUK), The University of Nottingham and over 100 commercial partners. This project incorporates the Universities of Cambridge, Reading, Exeter and Brunel.
Horizon will undertake research in the cross-cutting challenges underlying the digital economy. These include the following.

The Horizon Doctoral Training Centre in Ubiquitous Computing for the Digital Economy is supported by an £8 million investment from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the University and over 30 industry partners. It will recruit more than 50 PhD students who will experience an innovative PhD programme that combines a PhD research project with training in interdisciplinary research innovation skills and industrial internship.
