Nottingham students shine at National Table Tennis Championships

University of Nottingham Sport was delighted to once again host the Mark Bates Ltd. English National Table Tennis Championships. The showpiece championships were held across the weekend of the 22nd to the 24th March at the David Ross Sports Village, situated on the University of Nottingham University Park campus. The competition would not only showcase the very best players within the country, but also the talent that is being honed within the University of Nottingham Table Tennis Club as #GreenandGold club members stole the spotlight and solidified their place among the nation’s elite. 

Tin-Tin Ho emerged as the undisputed women's champion, demonstrating versatility and unwavering focus as she secured a remarkable triple gold in a staggering three categories winning the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles, to round off a week which also included a BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) championship.Following closely behind Ho was teammate Jasmin Wong who displayed exceptional skill throughout the competition, securing a well-deserved silver medal in each of the three categories – a testament to her dedication and steadfast spirit. In the women's doubles competition, Jasmin teamed with fellow Nottingham student Mari Baldwin to take the second step on the podium. 

A key element to Nottingham's success at the tournament is also the expert coaching of our players. Coach Matej Mamut expertly guided all eight of the University of Nottingham club members who competed at the champioonships to achieve top 32 rankings in the country – a remarkable achievement.
