On Wednesday 7th November the University of Nottingham Netball 1st Team will compete against our varsity rivals Nottingham Trent 1st team, in a competitive BUCS League Fixture as both teams compete for top of the league and a promotion into the premier league.

The University of Nottingham Netball 1st team started the season with a great 55-32 win against Worcester 1st team, which made them leaders of the Midlands 1A league.

After the first game of the season, Trent were closely behind in second, after also securing 3 points from a season opener win, which meant there was only a 2 goal difference between them and the top spot.

Both Nottingham and Trent triumphed in their second games of the season; Nottingham winning 35-31 against Birmingham and Trent winning 56-45 against Worcester. This had left Trent in the top spot, leading by 5 goals, with Nottingham close behind.

Captain, Becky Deo, and Vice-Captain, Alice Coward said “We are really excited about the game, it’s always very competitive when we play Trent. Last time we played in varsity, we lost but we are coming back a stronger team this season.”

Both the Nottingham and Trent teams field Super-League Netball players, promising a showcase of top class netball on the evening of 7th.

Come and support the University of Nottingham on 7th November as they continue to battle for the league top spot and a place in the Premier league. If University of Nottingham win against Trent it stands them in great stead for winning the league and being promoted to the premier league for the first time in history!
