Our dedicated Legal Skills team supports you to develop the skills you need to achieve your potential, developing legal, academic and professional skills.
Tailored support for undergraduate and postgraduate law students
- Academic skills including efficient reading, note-taking, time-management, developing your writing and dissertation support (from choosing a topic, to researching and writing it up).
- Legal scholarship including using online and library-based legal resources, referencing, legal reasoning and argumentation, criticality and tackling exam and tutorial questions with confidence.
- Professional and employability skills including links with careers resources and professional experience and reflective practice. Skills Projects include client interviewing and advocacy projects (working with internal colleagues and external partners to develop key legal and professional employability skills).
- Personalised support tailored to your year group.
- Moodle sites with a wealth of information, tips and links to wider university support.
The legal skills programme caters for all students throughout the academic year, offering lectures, talks, seminars and workshops on a wide variety of topics to support your development and enhance your academic experience.
