Nottingham courses have been named number one in the UK in the latest national league tables.
Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science topped their respective tables in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015. This is the second year in a row that Veterinary Medicine has come top of its category.
Professor Gary England, Founding Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, said: “We are exceptionally pleased to once again be recognised as the best place to study veterinary medicine in the UK in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015. “The fact that we have received this placing for the second year running reflects our excellent teaching, facilities, and of course our fantastic students.”
Veterinary medicine has also been consistently voted a number one course in the National Student Survey since 2011.
The Animal Science degree is delivered by the School of Biosciences, which has always been at or near the top of league tables for its Agriculture and Food related degrees.
As well as coming top in the new Animal Science category, the School's Food Science degree came third in its category this year.
The latest rankings also shows Law in fourth position and features top 10 positions for English, Economics, Physics and Chemistry.
Nottingham University’s graduates are the most in-demand in Britain, according to a survey of The Times Top 100 graduate employers. The university has always done well in the annual High Fliers’ Graduate Market study — it was second in 2013 — but this is the first year in which it came out on top. Last year it also made the top 50 of a global employability university survey based on the views of 2,700 recruiters in 20 countries.
Nottingham is seen as a prime alternative to Oxbridge, and attracts more than seven candidates for each of the 7,000 undergraduate slots it fills each year. It is the nearest Britain has to a truly global university, with campuses in China and Malaysia modelled on a headquarters that is the most attractive in Britain.
The University Park site has also won 11 consecutive Green Flag awards for its 330 acres of parkland.
The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015 provides students and their parents with an invaluable first reference point on the path to finding a university place. It contains full profiles of all universities and the leading colleges of higher education. The league table is drawn up from criteria including student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/staff ratios, service and facilities spend, and university dropout rates.
