Political Parties Era (1796-1824)
A political party is a group of people who work to influence policy agendas and hold government power by seeking to elect candidates to public office. The Federalist Party and the Democratic-Republican Party were the first political parties in the United States, lasting from approximately 1796 to 1824
Virtual plants in high school informatics L-systems
A creation of models is becoming an important part of informatics education besides algorithmization and programming. An appropriate example concerning use of computer science while modelling real world are the L-systems. In the paper we describe a proposal of teaching of plants growth modelling by the L-systems at a high school. Our goal is to help students to understand and try creation of plants model on the computer.
Should Students Use Their Private Laptop Computers for Study Purposes?
Project and Problem Based Learning has become a standard method of teaching at Technikum Wien. In the course of Computer Science students used their own Laptop Computers for all lessons. If students could not afford a laptop, one was provided by the department. The over all results of this experiment have been very promising. It was possible to reduce the total costs of teaching, mainly because less support for the student laptops was needed. Even more important, most teaching obstacles previous
A Pilot Project From Illiteracy to Computer Literacy: Teaching and Learning Using Information Tec
This paper addresses the use of information and communication technologies, ICT or IT for brevity, to combat illiteracy and move participants directly from illiteracy to computer literacy. The resulting assistive technology and instructional software and hardware can be employed to speed up literacy programs and make them more attractive and effective. The approach provides an interactive, self-paced, autonomous and entertaining learning experience, eases entry and exit in and out of the program
Realism in the design process and credibility of a simulation-based virtual laboratory
The credibility of an instructional simulation is a most important issue in distance education, where it may replace hands-on activities. This credibility is based in large part upon verisimilitude, a perception strongly influenced by the simulations realism. This paper presents a case study encompassing the design process of a simulation-based virtual laboratory, which was guided by a realism principle, and an investigation of its credibility among potential users. We found that many characte
Learning Design and Run-Time Resource Binding in a Distributed e-Learning Environment
Nowadays, the need for e-learning systems supporting a rich set of pedagogical requirements has been identified as an important issue in the field of distance learning. Several initiatives take place in order to meet this need.
Maybe, the most important of these initiatives is IMS Learning Design [6] that provides a framework to depict pedagogies. Furthermore, we are aware that the provision of different learning paths tailored on learner's characteristics and preferences guarantees the learner
Informal learning in the workplace
This paper focuses mainly on theoretical frameworks for understanding and investigating informal learning in the workplace, which have been developed through a series of large and small scale projects. The main conclusions are included but readers are referred to other publications for more detailed accounts of individual projects. Two types of framework are discussed. The first group seek to deconstruct the “key concepts” of informal learning, learning from experience, tacit knowledge, tran

to let the cases pass by as if under ad=

Experimental Design Methods - A Review
Experimental design methods are applied in all phases of the design process and by almost every party involved in the design process. In this paper, we aim to give an overview of the background, applications, and technologies involved. A limited simple metric is introduced for assessing the degree of innovation. Future developments are outlined.
