Brown at 10
Gordon Brown's three years at No.10 were the most turbulent of any premiership in the postwar history of Downing Street. In Brown at 10, Anthony Seldon tells for the first time the full, compelling story of the astonishing end of Gordon Brown's tenure, and with it the demise of the New Labour project. This will be a frank, authentic and penetrating account of a remarkable political era by one of Britain's foremost political and social commentators.

The Crusades: Crescent & the Cross The Crusades were a series of religion-driven military campaigns waged by much of Christian Europe, fought mainly against Muslims. The original goal was to recapture Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
Virtual Educational Resource for the Biosciences (VERB) - Eutherians - eXe File
VERB is an online animal diversity resource designed to accompany undergraduate degrees in the Biosciences. In this package, entitled VERB Eutherians, the groups discussed are the living placental mammals. Contained are a series of web pages outlining the diversity of the eutherians from an evolutionary perspective. The topics of focus are phylogeny (evolutionary history) and functional anatomy, but subjects as wide as genetics, ecology, physiology, and developmental biology are discussed where
Leeds Varsity 2010 Live: Rugby Union - Second Half
Students from Leeds Met have taken part a live production exercise, producing a multi camera live recording of the Leeds Varsity Rugbby Union Clash filmed at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
Students from film, tv and media related courses were involved in all aspects of the production, from camera work, sound recording and event journalism,
Commentary by Mark Dorey and Leeds Met alumni Ben Hooper.

Preparing for peer observation
This exercise sheet is designed to be used to train teachers in peer-to-peer observation. It outlines the phases of peer-to-peer observation and gives pointers on how to give feedback to colleagues.
Brown vs Board of Education Thurgood Marshall
This ten minute video is about Brown vs. Board of Education and Thurgood Marshall. It is mainly talking heads and so is best used for older students who have some idea about the judical system. It covers a lot of history related to civil rights.
Pete Seeger and the Origin of the Banjo
Pete Seeger presents the origin of the banjo and the development of southern folk music. This video is best for teachers and for those who want to see a young Pete Seeger give a general history of the banjo. Sound quality, sadly, is lacking in this 16 minute video. A good lesson starter for folk music studies.
Introduction to Philosophy II
This course is designed as a "topics-based" introduction to philosophy. What this means is that instead of working through the history of philosophy focusing on great historical figures and their views on different topics, we will focus on great philosophical topics and look at what historical and contemporary writers have said about them. Topics to be addressed will include the existence of God, the relation between the mind and the body, human freedom, and the foundations of morality.
Feldmans Song Book
Feldman's 25th Blue Song Book, containing 100 song hits, cost 6d. Maker: Feldman. Date: 1940 (circa) - from the The Betty Smithers Design Collection at Staffordshire University.
Carbon string
Carbon string is used as a conducting bridge in the preparation of specimens for observation in the scanning electron microscope (SEM). It is also representative of the preforms used in the manufacture of some carbon fibre based composite components. Fibres can be woven into appropriate shapes using traditional weaving technology. The preforms can then be injected with the resin matrix by processes such as resin transfer moulding (RTM) or resin film infusion (RFI).
21F.105 Chinese V (Regular): Chinese Cultures & Society (MIT)
This course is the continuation of 21F104/108. It is designed to further help students develop sophisticated conversational, reading and writing skills by combining traditional textbook material with their own explorations of Chinese speaking societies, using the human, literary, and electronic resources available at in the Boston area. Some of special features of Chinese society, its culture, its customs and habits, its history, and the psychology of its people are be introduced. The class cons
h-BN inclusion in a β-Si3N4 grain
The micrograph shows h-BN inclusion (precipitate) in a β-Si3N4 grain (within a silicon nitride particulate-reinforced silicon carbide composite). The occurrence of BN inclusions results from the introduction of colloidal BN into the hot isostatic pressing process. They are formed from B2O3 present as a thin surface film on the BN particles in the barrier layer. B2O3 will be molten during the pressing process and will diffuse rapidly into the powder compact and react with Si3N4 to form BN. Such
Birefringence in a film of polyethylene
The colours in the image are the result of birefringence and relate to the residual stress in the film. The colour is generally uniform (with some contrast where an additional thickness of film exists or where wrinkling has resulted in a different apparent thickness). This is indicative of both a uniform film thickness and of the uniformity of the drawing process used to make the film. In the region of the tear, however, the colours indicate strain-induced orientation: because the material is ab
Interface boundary between h-BN and Si3N4 grains
The micrograph shows a regularly stepped interface boundary between h-BN (precipitate) and Si3N4 grains (within a silicon nitride particulate-reinforced silicon carbide composite). The occurrence of BN inclusions results from the introduction of colloidal BN into the hot isostatic pressing process. They are formed from B2O3 present as a thin surface film on the BN particles in the barrier layer. B2O3 will be molten during the pressing process and will diffuse rapidly into the powder compact and

Radiolarian micropalaeontology: examining radiolaria under the microscope
Professor Simon Haslett discusses examining radiolarian microfossils under the microscope. Radiolaria are marine single-celled organisms that possess a silica shell and are preserved in the fossil record. They are commonly examined using transmitted light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Radiolaria can be used in stratigraphy to date layers of rock and sediment through geological time, and also to reconstruct past environments and establish palaeoclimate history.
