  • Piaget proposed that all children pass through an ordered sequence of stages of cognitive development. This development arises through the processes of intrinsic motivation, assimilation and accommodation and equilibriation.

6.1 Introduction

The biological functions of both DNA and RNA are dependent on complex, and sometimes transient, three-dimensional nucleoprotein structures. It is in such structures that the enzymatic manipulation of DNA in the essential biological processes such as DNA replication, transcription and recombination occur, and it is important to understand the interactions that drive these processes. Whether it is the activity of enzymes associated with DNA, such as DNA topoisomerases, or the packaging of DNA o

5.3.2 Style theories

Style theories are based on the assumption that it is the style of leadership that matters. The alternative styles are generally phrased in terms of 'task centred' or 'person centred'; these have also been called 'structuring' and 'supporting' styles, corresponding roughly to the 'scientific' and 'social relations' styles of management.

The leadership styles are not mutually exclusive and can be represented in the form of a grid, as in Author(s): The Open University

John Adams and the Boston Massacre
Fame without Honor is the key phrase in this interesting look at John Adams as done by an actor using the president's writings to show how he acted and why. Very good, but this 4:38 video is best used to show the times and the nature of Adams.

5.9.2 Ultrafiltration (UF)

This employs membranes with smaller pores (0.001–0.02 μm) than those for microfiltration and utilises much greater pressure (up to 3000 kPa). An atomic mass unit is 1/12 of the mass of a neutral atom of the most abundant isotope of carbon, i.e. I.66X 10−27 kg.

Commonly, the membranes are made of polysulphone, polyacrylonitrile, polyamide and cellulose acetate. Inorganic ceramic membranes are also used. Owing to its ability to remove very small particles, UF is mainly use

Another might be the right to collective bargaining. In fact, the coverage of the codes of conduct vary considerably depending on who instigated the code and the parties involved (Pearson and Seyfang, 2001). Most codes of conduct, it seems, are top-down affairs, drawn up by the companies involved or by trade associations. Some hav

1.5.3 The doctor-nurse relationship

In reality, however, the nurse spends much more time with patients and often knows a lot that the doctor does not. Somehow the nurse needs to be able to communicate essential knowledge to the doctor, in the patient’s presence, without appearing to undermine the doctor’s ‘omniscient’ status. According to Leonard Stein’s research in America, they achieve this through playing ‘the doctor–nurse game’.
