Detailed account of the Civil War service and experiences of Sergeant Isaac P. Tedrow of Clermont County, Ohio. Tedrow served in Company F of the 89th O.V.I. His company was engaged in the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia in 1863. He was one of 369 men taken prisoner by Confederate troops. Tedrow was transported between various prisons and consistently starved. He spent time on Bell Island in Virginia and at Andersonville Prison in Georgia. Title page to a bound volume of war sketches from members of the G.A.R. Geo. H. Chapman Post in Indianapolis. The illustrations on the page show three American flags and an open book.,The G.A.R. Geo. H. Chapman post was active at least from 1883 to 1913. The post historian initiated a project to get a "personal war sketch" from each member, then combined them into an account. The post was named for Brevet Major General George Henry Chapman of the 3rd Indiana Cavalry.

News from the Seat of War! Indianapolis Daily Journal Extra, 1861
The broadside reports the news of Fort Sumter being attacked. The fort was fired upon all night and smoke rose from it the next morning. Reactions from Montgomery, Alabama; Savannah, Georgia; Cincinnait, Ohio; Providence, Rhode Island; and Boston, Massasschutes are given. in one of the adjoining Regts. to-day but I did not
attend. So you see there is still a spark of the religious
element left in the army. While on this subject, I must
tell you that Billy Rice lost his Bible in our Battle at Freder=
icksburgh on the 13th. I believe it is one that was presented
to him, and he regrets it very much. Billy is a good sol=
dier, and I think a genuine Christian.
