Susan Solomon is widely recognized as one of the leaders in the field of atmospheric science. She obtained some of the first chemical measurements that helped to establish chlorofluorocarbons as the cause of the ozone hole in Antarctica. The Solomon Glacier in Antarctica was named after her.
