Media Arts Teaching Residency Summer 2010
The residency focuses on Media Arts and the Integration of Learning Technologies into the Arts, Math, Science and Humanities Curricula. A select group of K-12 Teachers, representing public, private and charter schools across Southern and Central California, spent five days in professional development workshops, presentations and field trips meant to enhance and re-invigorate their teaching and creative practices.

Shelly is a 38-year-old African American female who initially presented with transverse myelitis 2 years ago. A lumbar puncture revealed multiple oligoclonal bands in the cerebral spinal fluid. MRI has demonstrated numerous plaques in the bilateral cerebral white matter. She eventually went on to recover from her initial attack but since her second attack has continued to progressively worsen. Her gait and other motor functioning have deteriorated and she is now wheelchair bound.

Each day, workers in the health care field debate the most reliable course of action for treating a particular ailment. As part of U.S. health care reform, new emphasis is being placed on comparative effectiveness research (CER), which pits remedies against one another to determine which is best. A new paper by Wharton professor Scott Harrington warns that the government should avoid developing a monopoly on CER, and offers suggestions for sparking interest from private sector researchers.
