All about Electrochemistry
Site contains introductory material in basic electrochemistry. Topics include galvanic cells, electrodes, cell potentials and thermodynamics, Nernst, batteries and fuel cells.
Veeco Nanotheater
Veeco's Nanotheater provides over 350 images of surfaces acquired using atomic force microscopy and scanning probe microscopy. Images come from a wide variety of samples, including polymers, biologicals such as bacteria, and inorganic crystals. Many of the images contains brief descriptions of what is being shown, although the information is not particularly in-depth. Additional information on atomic force microscopy and scanning probe microcopy, including useful guides and animations, is availa
Multiple Regression
This site provides an introduction to the use of multiple regression, beginning with a glossary of important terms before taking the reader through a review of bivariate regression and the implementation and interpretation of multiple regression. One limitation to the site is its reliance on Minitab for calculations. Users, however, can reproduce the calculations using other software packages, such as SPSS or Excel. Prior knowledge of the basics of bivariate regression is assumed; thus, the site
Busy Researchers Guide to Chromatography
The Busy Researchers\' Guide to Chromatography is a pdf book focused on the vendor\'s (PerSeptive Biosystems) products (perfusion-based chromatography) with an eye toward their application in bioanalysis. The book is a nicely written and practical introduction to chromatography suitable for use with undergraduates. The last several chapters define the basics of liquid chromatographic separations and the first few give a nice overview of how one does a method development for a specific biologic
Problem-based Learning
This site provides a thoughtful introduction to problem-based learning including an overview of PBL, its history, examples of problems, a discussion of group dynamics, and the role of the instructor in PBL. Be aware that there are broken links on this website (e.g., the resources page).
Micro- and Nano Technology, 1st Int'l Symp 2004
Technologies developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory include: 1) use of nanoprobes based on plasmon-resonance (which is defined) to enhance surface Raman scattering and fluorescence; 2) an optical neurosensor based on a 40 nm fiber optical tip; and 3) a multifunctional biochip capable of DNA and other protein-based bioassays. The article is written in PDF format with several illustrative graphics. Although insufficient in details to duplicate experimentally, the article does provide a nice ov
SUNY Oswego 2010 Annual Report - Developing Business

Reading Framework for the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress
This Reading Framework for the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress sets forth the design of a test of reading comprehension. The exam requires students to read passages of written English text -- either literary or informational -- and to answer questions about what they have read. In some cases, the questions deal with facts in the text or vocabulary. In other cases, a complete answer requires a clear analysis or coherent argument supported by sound evidence from the text.

Symmetry Breaking on a Rotating Hoop
The Rotating Hoop Launcher package shows the dynamics of a mass that is constrained to move on a rotating hoop. The rotating hoop model is an excellent mechanical model of first- and second-order phase transitions. Although the minimum of the potential energy curve corresponds to the bottom of the hoop at low rotation frequency, a spontaneous symmetry breaking (cusp catastrophe) occurs as the frequency is increased. This package presents the theory, a demonstration, and an Easy Java Simulation (
Gilbert Stuart: Works
Stuart portrayed virtually all the notable men and women of the Federal period in the U.S., and was declared the Father of American Portraiture by his contemporaries. Stuart portrayed American and European figures, including George Washington, John and Abigail Adams, John Jay, and Robert Liston. Topics to be addressed will include the existence of God, the relation between the mind and the body, human freedom, and the foundations of morality.
Tracheid Length Measurement in Selected Conifer Species
This exercise illustrates the techniques for macerating wood and staining, mounting, and measuring tracheids. Mean tracheid length is different in different species of conifers; therefore, this laboratory can be expanded into a larger scale comparative measurement exercise.
Limpet showing foot
The intertidal zone is subject to intense wave forces and the muscular foot allows limpets to tightly grasp the rocks.
